The Pakistan Britain Business Council (“PBBC”) has a wide business remit to develop bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. PBBC’s remit is to facilitate, acting as an intermediary, bringing together businesses and entrepreneurs, professional advisers and government agencies in Britain, Pakistan and other jurisdictions to develop bilateral trade. PBBC is committed to hosting trade events and networking opportunities across the United Kingdom and Pakistan.

PBBC also proposes to organize trade missions to Pakistan with an appropriate industry focus on a regular basis with the objective of promoting Pakistan as safe haven for doing business. PBBC is financially supported mainly by annual subscriptions from


Members and grants from partners and stakeholders.

PBBC was established by Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Pervez Musharraf in 2002 and both the British and Pakistan governments committed to support PBBC in delivering its remit.

The aim of the PBBC is to promote durable ways to build the UK/Pakistan commercial relationship and to increase bilateral trade and to promote the perception of Pakistan as a good and safe haven for carrying on business.

PBBC was initially chaired by Sir Thomas Harris for over 4 years and he was replaced by Baroness Nosheena Mobarik in 2012 after being nominated by Lord Green. Following the elections In September 2016, Julian Hamilton Barns was elected as the new Chairman of the PBBC along with other Executive team members.

Since September 2016 the Executive Team has been added to with the introduction of Kalim Farooqui, Vice Chairman, Pakistan, Nigel Peters, Vice Chairman, Suniya Quereshi, Head of Women Empowerment & Education, Jonny O’Rourke Head of Media & IT, Malahat Awan, Head of Pakistan Outreach and Hajira Ahmed, Head of Events.
